First Aid and CPR Requirements Michigan Teachers

This coursework may be offered by the the American Heart Association (AHA).
Coursework must include first aid, adult CPR, and child CPR. Online courses are not acceptable - learning first aid and CPR requires demonstration and practice.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED

Heartsaver courses are for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid and/or CPR AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.
The Heartsaver First-aid/CPR/AED class covers the following topics: bleeding control, seizures, epi pen use, allergic reactions, snake bites, broken bones, poisoning, CPR for adults, children, and infants, choke saving, how to use an AED (automated external defibrillators), and other life threatening emergencies. This course is for renewing, recertification, or initial students. There are not any official lunch breaks in this course but there will be breaks.

Book requirements:
There will books available to purchase at the class. The book needs to be the 2015 guidelines.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED




Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED

The American Heart Association Pediatric First-aid/CPR course. This course combines both CPR and First-aid, and students learn how to use an epi-pen, bandaging, glove removal, splinting, and how to conduct an interview of an injured victim. Other topics include: bee stings, allergic reactions, snake bites, shock, amputations, seizures, asthma, CPR for all ages, choke-saving, and how to use an AED (defibrillator). There are no official lunch breaks in this course, but there will be breaks. This course is for renewing, recertification, or initial students.

Who should take this class
This course is for those involved in child care who have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. This audience includes child care workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp counselors, youth organizations and coaches for children’s sports organizations. This course is also ideal for parents, grandparents, babysitters, and guardians.
